The "Sport-Études" program offers recognized student-athletes
the opportunity to develop their fulll potential thanks to a supervised
program that encompasses both academic and sports training. The
Bromont Equestrian Centre provides riding instruction. Every year,
the equestrian centre welcomes Massey-Vanier students registered
in this discipline.
Registration
To register, interested riders must:
- Make an appointment with the Bromont Equestrian Centre to be
evaluated;
- Submit a brief written résumé of their riding
experience at the evaluation;
- If they are in Secondary I, they must already have obtained
Rider Level 1 Certification at the beginning of the course;
- If they are in Secondary II or higher, they must already have
obtained Rider Level 2 Certification at the beginning of the course;
- Get involved in their chosen sport by working additional hours;
- Contact Mr. Michel Moreau at Massey-Vanier High School, (450)
263-6660, and submit their school file for analysis and registrations.
Cost and conditions
The cost of the program is 3,570, including taxes. This amount
can be paid in 10 equal and consecutive monthly installments of
357 at the beginning of each month. Payment should be made out to
the
"Centre équestre de Bromont".
Competition fees are not included in this amount. Approximate cost
per competition: 50 for school shows and 150 to 200 for regional
shows.
In addition, there are fees of approximately 6 per training session
for transportation to and from school.
Additional information
- The Bromont Equestrian Center offers courses for all levels
throughout the year. The Equestrian Center has one indoor arena
and 10 outdoor rings.
- The site also features a room for theoretical courses.
- As an additional bonus, student-athletes are trained by a Level
III coach, Mr. Roger Deslauriers. Recognized by the Quebec and
Canadian Equestrian Federations, Mr. Deslauriers also gives clinics
in Europe.
- Mr. Deslauriers was his son, Mario Deslauriers' personal trainer.
As is well-known in riding circles, Mario Deslauriers was the
youngest rider to win the World Cup in 1984 and is a frequent
member of the Canadian riding team. Roger Deslauriers also trained
Alain Vaillancourt who now lives in the U.S., Eric Lamaze, as
well as many other riders.
- All riders, be they "hopefuls" or elite, will find
everything they need to develop or hone their skills, and to maintain
their enthusiasm for the sport at the Bromont Equestrian Centre,
Canada's most comprehensive riding venue.
